When you buy a home in a new home community, you typically work with the builder on the entire transaction -- from selecting the home site and upgrades to completing the paperwork. They may even have their own preferred mortgage partner so that they can control the entire process.


Although it’s nice to know that the builder can be your one-stop shop for the entire home buying transaction, there may be times when you may need the additional assistance of a real estate professional like an agent.


For example, did you know that builder contracts do not have to confirm to California contract standards? If anything, they are written to protect them, not you!
