Helping Our Veterans Heal
Our veterans have put themselves on the front lines and risked so much for us and our country. Many have lost limbs, become paralyzed, or suffer from PTSD. Now, many have returned home to heal and rebuild their lives.
Organizations like the WAVES Project were created to help our veterans recover and find purpose in their lives. Specially trained dive instructors work one-on-one with these veterans to teach them how to SCUBA dive and help get them certified. Their success rate is phenomenal. Not only have these veterans gained a new skill, but they also feel a sense of accomplishment despite having disabilities.
In 2018, the WAVES Project helped 10 veterans become certified. It’s an intensive process that takes time. Currently, the wait list stands at 150 veterans with another 100 from around the country interested in the program. If you know a veteran or are one, also check out the video above to learn how you can join the program.
They also need your help! Find out from Steve Rubin of the WAVES Project how you can donate much-needed funds or volunteer your time. The WAVES Project currently has a Matching Challenge Any gift they receive by December 31st will be 100% matched up to $50,000. Donate online at https://www.wavesproject.org/donate/.
